Training group description:
This group offers a space for training and processing for therapists who deal with the unique complexity of traumatic and disrupted bereavement in the treatment room – bereavement that is born under exceptional conditions of ongoing collective trauma, and leaves behind grieving processes that find themselves without a familiar path. Over the course of ten sessions, we will combine a theoretical framework with live clinical work, while creating a safe and supportive environment for shared thinking.
The first sessions will be devoted to distinguishing between normative grief, traumatic bereavement, and disrupted bereavement – and to characterizing the factors underlying the grief response, including the nature of the connection to the deceased, relationships, circumstances, and procedural and situational disruptions. Later, we will focus on cases from the participants’ clinical practice, while thinking together about the complex dynamics that arise in the treatment room – including questions of transference, countertransference, and coping with an intense and ongoing grief response. Each session will be dedicated to one topic in working with bereavement and the movement we would like to create in it.
The training group is intended for therapists with clinical experience who want to deepen their ability to work with complex bereavement and receive peer guidance in a professional and supportive environment.
Goals of the training group:
Strengthening the ability of therapists to work with traumatic bereavement and dysfunctional bereavement in the treatment room.
Creating a space where it is possible to talk about what is difficult to say – ignorance, doubts, experiences of helplessness and fear that arise naturally in dealing with this type of bereavement.
Building a supportive professional community that can continue and sustain the collaborative work beyond the course.
