Life after death - a vague loss

Sunday, May 25, 2025

In this episode of the "Life After Death" podcast, hosted by Maayan Zussman, we open a discussion on a phenomenon called 'ambiguous loss.' By asking what the family members of abductees, the family members of Alzheimer's/terminally ill patients, and young children who have lost a family member have in common, we examine a situation of ambiguous loss - a mismatch between a person's physical presence and psychological presence. Ambiguous loss occurs in places where there is no clear definition of the situation, and there is no known finality. And there is - well - ambiguity. A loss that cannot always be defined. The podcast features Dr. Einat Yahana, a lecturer and senior researcher on ambiguous loss who currently serves, among other things, as head of the rehabilitation department at the Abductees' Families Headquarters.

One a day - to take care of the families of the kidnapped

Thursday, February 6, 2025

In an episode of the N12 podcast "One Day at a Time," hosted by Elad Shamchiof, the question arises of what the treatment of the families of the kidnapped looks like. Since October 7, the families of the kidnapped have been fighting non-stop for the return of their loved ones from captivity in Gaza. But in the midst of this struggle, the family members themselves are also experiencing distress and difficulty and need a listening ear to help them take care of themselves. The professionals at the Families Headquarters do exactly that - ask, listen and try to understand what exactly these families, who are in an unprecedented situation, are going through. The podcast features Dr. Einat Yahana, a clinical neuropsychologist and expert rehabilitation psychologist, senior lecturer at the Tel Aviv-Yafo Academic College and head of the rehabilitation department at the Families Headquarters.
