Course description :

The events of October 7 and the "Iron Swords" War created a complex reality of dealing with a unique trauma that included, among other things, the relocation of entire communities from their permanent place of residence to a temporary or alternative place of residence, for an unknown period of time. This situation requires special attention to issues such as - preserving community, adapting on a personal, family and social level to the new reality, vague loss and mourning, dealing with uncertainty and more in therapeutic aspects. . In addition, consideration must also be given to the host communities, and the interrelationships between these two communities.

The course will allow for observation and in-depth exploration of these issues while addressing the creation of a safe space as an anchor for therapeutic work with communities displaced from their place of residence following the war.


Course objectives:

1. General introduction to the issue of host and forcibly displaced communities

2. Understanding the Israeli national trauma in the context of changing communities

3. Acquiring tools for community work - from forced change to adaptation


Course cost:

  • For professionals providing care in the private sector: 650 NIS

  • For professionals working in the public sector: free of charge.

  • Interns, master's degree students and graduates of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Academic College: free of charge.

Target audience:

Psychologists from all areas of expertise (including interns), social workers, expressive and creative therapists, and educational consultants.


About the lecturers:

Galit Itzhaki Dreizin - Jungian psychotherapist, MSW, criminal profiler. Has been working in the field of absences for over a decade both in Israel and in the therapeutic research arena worldwide.

Ran Cohen Aharonov - Has a master's degree in education. Founder and CEO of the organization Early Starters International for promoting international projects in early childhood education and development. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Ran has established 20 safe spaces for children of refugees from the war, providing emotional and social support to approximately 5,000 children who have experienced trauma. Co-founder of "Yalduta", the organization for early childhood change. Accompanied the Pre-Primary Education Division at the Ministry of Education. Ran also creates and writes for children.
